Information

Illinois

I visited Illinois in July of 2012.

One place I went, with my sister and my dad, was Shedd Aquarium.

I also visited Illinois in August of 2013, on a road trip with a friend of mine and my dad. We drove on some of the Historic Route 66 and visited the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Near Petersburg, we then visited Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site.

In Springfield, we visited the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site; the Old State Capital (where Lincoln delivered his ‘house divided’ speech); and the Lincoln-Herndon Law Office.

Prior to a hotel swim, we finished the day off with horseshoe sandwiches at D’Arcy’s Pint.

The next morning, while still in Springfield, we visited The Lincoln Home; The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum; the Lincoln Depot (where Lincoln paid tribute to his friends and neighbors in what is known today as the 'farewell address'); and the state capital.

We then traveled to Missouri.

In July of 2021, I was in Illinois again. Along with my dad and my grandpa, we arrived on a train trip from Durand, Michigan to Portland, Oregon< on the Amtrak Empire Builder.
