I visited Connecticut from June 30, 2012, thru July 3, 2012, on a 'road trip' vacation with a friend of mine and my dad. We stayed a couple of nights in the Essex / Old Saybrook area.

On July 1st, we were on the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat Cruise. As part of the trip, we crossed the Connecticut River on the historic Chester-Hadlyme car/passenger ferry, then visited the Gillette Castle in East Haddam. For a break during part of the train trip back to the station, we got to ride on a riverboat.

On July 2nd, we visited the Submarine Force Museum (home of the USS Nautilus, the world's first nuclear powered vessel) and then Mystic Seaport, an educational working shipyard museum.

After this, we stayed for one night in Mystic and visited the Mystic Aquarium.

We then traveled east to Rhode Island.
